Dust Mites thrive in areas that are humid. The first step to eradicating dust mites from a home to make sure the humidity in the home is below 50%. In most South Florida homes, this can be ensured simply by cooling down the inside of the home. If Dust Mites are suspected of being located in a room without an air conditioner, the homeowner may use a dehumidifer in that room until the Dust Mites are eliminated.
The second step is to sanitize any/all fabrics in the infested room(s). Linens and drapery should be washed. Steamers will kill mites on contact. Carpets and floors should be vacuumed and cleaned. Make sure to empty and dispose the contents of your vacuum in such a way
The last step is to have our trained technicians treat the infested rooms in the home. We do so by applying our a combination of essential oils and soap to any and all areas Dust Mites may be present. We’ll treat walls, flooring, carpets, baseboards, drapes, and even beds. Our formula is completely safe and doesn’t stain any surfaces.

Dust mites come from various sources, not only dust. Although not neccissarily dust mites, the most common source we see are birds that have nested in fascias or eaves. The birds can carry mites that will multiply in the nesting site since they have the birds as a consistent food source. When they overpopulate the nest, they will move into the home. The second most common source would be stored garments or bedding. These items are typically stored in closets or attics that are humid and mites love humid environments.
Dust Mites feed on the skin flakes of humans, animals and some types of mold.
Cooking sometimes causes moisture to evaporate into a home. Steamy showers also can cause an increase in humidity. Some rooms such as closet, garages, and attics that may not be well insulated or have poor air circulation may also be quite humid.
